I don't quite know how to describe what has happened.  My computer has gone back to original settings but all my stuff is still located in the hard drive.  For instance.....  All my pictures are in iphoto still but when I click on iphoto it gave me the welcome screen and wanted me to set it up.  Like when I first got this thing.

Please if anybody can give me a clue as to what has happened and how I can fix it.

I'm gonna head off to bed 6 am is gonna come quick.  If you have an idea what could of happened let me know.  I am low on hard drive space.  Only a gig left.  I did recently update itunes. But I don't see why it would do this.  It's like it went to factory settings but kept all my programs still entact on the harddrive. It is the original dock and everything wants to act like it is the first time Im opening it.

Thanks I appreciate it.  It didn't work.  I ended up screwing it up even more.  mistake.gif  But I'm not quite sure if someone changed my home directory or if it was something else.  At this rate it looks like I might have to just format.  Which isn't that big of a deal.  I have the important things backed up.  What I wanna know is if I got hacked and someone changed that directory.  Cause nobody on this end did.  It wasn't me and I doubt my 18mo or my 3yo did it.

Thanks again and good looking out. hand6.gif

If you are running Tiger, AND you only have ONE gig of HD space you need a bigger hard drive very soon. Or, you need to get some files off of your boot drive to an external drive.

There is simply not enough space for program updates to run (such as your recent itunes) or OS. Tiger and other OS need a fair amount of free HD space to operate. Otherwise, they begin to act up or even shut down.

hi! am a mac addict from back in the day. It's all I've ever used in my studio and business, unless forced to touch a Devil's Operating System based machine at the network office. On a side note, we do have a surprising amount of Macs at JTV it's fun to watch the Mac guys mock the pc guys dealing with their daily crashes.

I have experienced something similar to what you are describing, and I agree that either making space on the drive (how I resolved it; in my case I had archived too much of my photography so burning a couple of dvd's and cleaning up the drive worked) or getting into a bigger drive might be just the thing.

The "Devils OS" runs very nicely on my Mac. Now, I don't have to have two machines anymore. I run XP in one window and Mac OS in the other. :D

have known of that capability, which I think is very cool, but have yet to try it. I do think that is definitely the way to go, though
