I am probably way off base but I feel compelled to let you know KISS will be on the big screen tomorrow evening. This will be a screening of the legendary 1976 Cobo Hall show along with a rockumentary featuring KISS day from Cadillac, Michigan in 1975. Don't miss this chance to see a uniquely American band at the height of their powers.

Sorry but I am a geek!!

Here's a link for more details and local theatres:

What the heck were they doing in Cadillac, Michigan? That is not too far from Ferris College, but I can't see any other reason for them to be up there. face4.gif

I don't know the full story but will learn more tomorrow evening. As I understand it, Cadillac declared a KISS day, giving the band the key to the city, a parade and other festivities. I'll update after the screening...

FWIW, Cadillac, Michigan is about halfway between Grand Rapids and Traverse City on the west side of the state. It is a large small town that attracts a lot of vacationers during the summer.

As the brief recounts, the high school football team in Cadillac were losing continually. The coach noted the kids seemd to like KISS and began naming plays after their tunes and using the music to motivate the players. They go 7-2 and attribute their success to KISS. KISS catches wind and wants to come to town for the following years homecoming. they fly in, spend a day with city officialsa nd have a parade through town and then play at the homecoming dnace. The next day they are given the key to the city and work the high schol football crowd before being helicoptered out. anectdotally, my KISS freak buddy tells me the chopper went only a short way before setting them down to hop in limos to the next concert stop. Apparently they couldn't really yet afford the helicopter. After all it was only 1975 and they wouldn't conquer the world in toto for another couple of years. The rest is Kisstory!!

Great document of a uniquely American band rsponsible for creating a phenemenon and changing the way bands market themselves. Plus they f*cking rock!!

Loads of fun!! Look for Kissology Vol I on Haloween.
