...When you start liquidating other hobbies to feed your watch addiction !

mistake.gif

Ordered my Uke on a 20th anniversary trip to HI, thought I'd be keeping it forever.  (..the wife asks "is nothing sacred?!")

Then a favorite watchmaker releases yet another "LE" reissue.  Tell the truth now.. You'd sell the Uke too.. (wouldn't cha?)

Too Funny boy10.gif

I unloaded my skateboard collection for some of my watches

I know it sounds childish but some decks are worth 4,000.00 dollars pending on the Grail.

A.. Uke cost  too much 10yrs ago, not sure what it'll bring on a "popular auction site"...  but it's up to $700 so far though.  (..woulda sold it sooner if I'd known!)

2.. Breaks my heart to see how Hotwheels have taken off!  I threw away a FORTUNE as a kid!

C.. At least my Bike's safe..  Belonged to a riding buddy that went too young.  Some things are sacred.

Hey Tony with two small ones at home I had to make a choice of what to do with my limited free time, and I chose to spend it with my kids rather than riding. I do miss it however and there may be time for that when the kids decide they don't wanna be associated with me anymore.

However this is good for me too:

YES!! He'll notice!!coyote2.gif

I had a set of Fibes drums back in the 80's my Pops got rid of. He did give me the cash though!!

Anybody remember the Fibes? Wicked fiberglass drums that really snapped. I had the snare on my primary kit (Premier) and that was one deep dish snap-a-roo!!

Sure do Pax, I have a custom made Fibes snare drum that I bought off a friend back in the early '80's (6 1/2x 14 with Ludwig hardware and Super Sensitive strainer. It will take your head off, LOL) hand6.gif

My whole kit is Premier, ca. 1977 (14x24 kick/13/14/16 toms), and the one I use with the band that belongs to the singer is also Premier. I have a Slingerland brass snare along with the original Premier snare too (parallel action, I can't get snare wires for it anymore darn it).

Those Pearl Exports are sweet!

My younger son is now taking drums at school. He came home with a Yamaha student snare, pretty nice for a beginner drum. I'll never understand why they start them off with big sticks though (5B). I have used 5A my entire time - 28 years now, and I have played everything from metal to punk to pop to country. Never had a problem with a smaller stick.

You opened for the Replacements!?!? Awesome! yourock.gif

Cheers,
Griff

While I didn't sell it to buy a watch or any watches my Jeep which was my other hobby suffered dearly from watches. I buy a watch, no lockers, I buy another watch, there went the axle re-gear, another watch and there is another 6 month wait for a new lift. I haven't drove it much at all and am enjoying my new Durango way too much so off it went.

I put it up for sale on an Internet Jeep sales forum at a ridiculously high price (just like you see many watches listed such as old Doxa's) a couple weeks ago and sold it before I even saw the email confirming my post to the site. I think it was less than 10 minutes. Someone living about 15 miles from me was online when I posted it and bought it on the spot.

I will have another one though. I have never went over 6 months Jeep-less since I got my first in 1976.

I'm glad you kept with it Griff... I surely haven't but do knock around in the basement with headphones on every now and then. Seem to always wanna play along with the Clash's London Calling or Elton John's Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy. Sure am getting old...

5Bs all the way with the butt end on the snare. Never had too much finesse!!

Keep rocking Griff!! Premier makes an outstanding kit imho.

The Willies 1988. Voted best new band in Madison by the Isthmus. Big woop. Couldn't keep the band together despite getting some good looks as we did open for many of the alt-rock acts which came through Madtown in the day. Damn guitarist just had to get a doctarate in philosphy...
