This one is very hard to believe, but here goes....I have a SlopNBC credit card which has a small balance on it...well today I was writing a check to mail in..pretty normal stuff. Here's where it gets slimmy...by accident I look at page 2 a lot of blah, blah blah, but low and behold, at the bottom of the page there is a section that said i had a balance on an extended pay item...huh...well after checking it was the Invicta Tungsten which I returned. OK...well it showed a balance of $1.99 which was the shipping charge they do not credit back...that little balance had already accumulated $3.81 cents of interest It appears that they would have been happy to let the meter run until July, then add the balance to the card. I mailed a seperate check for the $1.99 and specified it be applied accordingly. To busy today to call one of the Morons there, but I will rip someone a new a-hole soon. Very disappointing IMHO

In fairness to Slop..unless they approved the practice the blame lies more on the credit company they use which is probably a servicing agent for them. What it does do though is continue to diminish the integrity of the company they represent...not that they need any help:D

Tony, its a computer that rankles you. My Dentist's "computer" will charge interest on a small (albiet missed) balance also. Miss a credit card payment today even for a small amount and you may be in for increased interest. It is not just shopnbc...

These days us folks who carry a balance can still see raised interest rates. Or a decrease in the credit given. Which is what happened to me. The thing that makes no sense is that I have less debt (by a whole bunch) then when they increased my credit line. Very strange. I'm generally not a guy for Government interference but these days they have acted criminally, imo. Don't ever close an account without paying it off first. That was a expensive lesson for me. Good thing I had enough money to pay it off when I saw the 30+% they raised me. Those stupid disclosure forms they send out need to be revised as well. They could accomplish more info in just a few sentences. I can't stand Credit card companies. Here's looking to get out of all my credit card debt by 2009.

Yea ya got to watch these folks like a hawk. I've seen them try to slip stuff in here and there with all kinds of credit cards. I have found if you call them on it and show your not to happy they often remove it. It's all a game of business and finance.

The CC companies lay blame on the losses they have to take for there exorbinent rates. I dont feel sorry for them because if they would just charge a fair rate of return maybe they would get steady payment. Again it's the sneakiness of the whole thing that rankles me. I dnt know if half these words are spelled correctly but...goofy

The business model for credit cards has changed over the years, from one where they made the bulk of their money off of normal use, to a model where they make the bulk of their money off of fees that barely existed 20 years ago. The fee structures for most CCs is appalling. I got into trouble once about 7 years ago when I was unemployed and since then I've sworn off the things. I have one card (which I do not permit myself to have a balance over $500 on) and that's it. Generally, I pay cash for everything. If it's not in a bank account, then I don't spend it -- end of story. I'm through with being sucked dry by crooked banks.
